Former New York City Mayor Giuliani Hospitalized Due to Serious Illness — Trump Calls Him a True Warrior
The news of Giuliani's hospitalization due to serious illness was announced by his spokesperson via a post on the X platform, according to AFP. The spokesperson stated, “Mayor Giuliani is not only a fighter; throughout his life, he has demonstrated unwavering resilience in facing every challenge. Now, he is confronting illness with the same strength and determination.” However, the spokesperson did not disclose the specific illness affecting the 81-year-old former public official, nor did they specify where he is receiving treatment or how long he will remain hospitalized. Nevertheless, they called on everyone to "pray for 'America's Mayor' Rudy Giuliani."
President Trump praised Giuliani as a true warrior and unequivocally the greatest mayor in New York City’s history on his own Truth Social platform. He described the vicious treatment Giuliani endured from radical left-wing extremists—i.e., all Democrats—as a tragedy. Trump insisted that everything Giuliani said was correct! According to Trump, Democrats manipulate elections, fabricate hundreds of false reports, and employ any means necessary to destroy the nation. Seeing Giuliani’s current situation, he said, is truly heartbreaking!
According to reporting by The New York Times, Giuliani is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Florida.
Giuliani earned the nickname “America’s Mayor” for leading New York City through the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the Manhattan World Trade Center. In the early stages of his career, he served as a fearless prosecutor fighting organized crime, actively using anti-racketeering laws to bring down Mafia families in New York.
However, in recent years, Giuliani’s reputation has dramatically declined. Particularly in 2023, a federal jury ruled that he must pay $148 million in damages to two election workers, after he falsely linked them to alleged election fraud during the 2020 presidential election, thereby defaming them. Giuliani, a Republican, had been a staunch supporter of President Trump and joined his private legal team during Trump’s first White House term.
In 2019, he came under scrutiny by the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s Office for his involvement in investigations related to Ukraine and his attempts to dig up dirt on Democratic opponent Joe Biden.
Giuliani also played a key role in efforts to overturn Trump’s clearly lost 2020 election to Joe Biden. However, lawsuits filed after the election were successively withdrawn or dismissed due to lack of merit.
Subsequently, he had his law license revoked by both the New York State Bar Association and the Washington State Bar Association.
Last November, President Trump issued a full pardon to Giuliani, who was then facing criminal charges in Arizona related to the 2020 election and other legal issues.
