Trump: U.S.-Iran Talks Are "Very Positive"

U.S. President Trump said on May 3 that the United States is engaged in very active negotiations with Iran.

Previously, Trump had described Iran's proposed solution to the conflict as "unacceptable."

Trump wrote on his "Truth Social" platform: "I fully understand that my representatives are conducting very active negotiations with Iran, which could lead to very positive outcomes for all parties involved."

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched multiple strikes targeting locations inside Iran, including attacks on Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. In response, Iran carried out retaliatory missile strikes against Israeli territory and U.S. military targets in the Middle East.

On April 8, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire, but subsequent talks held in Islamabad ended without results. There has been no news of renewed hostilities so far, but the United States has begun blocking Iranian ports. Mediators are now striving to facilitate a new round of negotiations.
