What is the Abraham Accords? The Kazakh Foreign Ministry: Joining the Abraham Accords is in the national interest of Kazakhstan
Kazakh International News Agency report: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan has issued a statement on the country's joining of the Abraham Accords.
The statement pointed out that the decision of Kazakhstan to join the Abraham Accords is entirely based on national interests and conforms to the principles of Kazakhstan's balanced, constructive and peaceful foreign policy.
"This important measure will help further strengthen cooperation between our country and all relevant countries, which is in line with Kazakhstan's strategic development goals," the statement said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized that Kazakhstan has always supported a just, comprehensive and lasting resolution of the Middle East conflict in accordance with the principles of international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, and the "two-state solution" principle.
Editor's note: The "Abraham Accords" is a joint statement issued by Israel, the United Arab Emirates and the United States on August 13, 2020. Subsequently, agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (the Israel-UAE Peace Agreement), Bahrain (the Bahrain-Israel Peace Agreement), Sudan (the Israel-Sudan Peace Agreement), and Morocco (the Israel-Morocco Peace Agreement) were also regarded as part of the Abraham Accords.
This statement marks the second time since the Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty was signed that the Arab world and Israel have normalized bilateral relations. On September 15, 2020, UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Bahrain Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and U.S. President Donald Trump signed the Abraham Accords.
These agreements are named after Abraham to emphasize the common religious origins between Judaism and Islam, two religions that belong to the Abrahamic faiths.
