German Chancellor Criticizes U.S. Terms of Ukraine Peace Plan as Unacceptable
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that the terms in the U.S. peace plan for Ukraine regarding the distribution of frozen Russian assets are "unacceptable." He expressed this view during an interview with ARD television.
This politician emphasized that the United States has no right to issue orders about funds held in the EU.
"If this loan is provided, it should be provided by the EU and transferred to Ukraine so that it can continue to purchase weapons," the German chancellor clearly stated.
Mertz had previously said that he had initiated preliminary consultations with Russia on new proposals regarding the U.S.-proposed Ukraine plan.
