Germany will not be able to摆脱 its dependence on Russian natural gas before 2028 at least
Russia Satellite News Berlin, November 23 - Klaus Mueller, head of the German Federal Network Agency, said in an interview with Funke media group that Germany will continue to import Russian liquefied natural gas through the state-owned company SEFE (European Energy Security Company), as per the current contract terms, which stipulate that the import cannot be terminated without a decision at the EU level.
Mueller said: "Under the current circumstances, the German government cannot restrict these supplies. The SEFE company has contracts that require payment for Russian liquefied natural gas - whether or not the goods are actually received. If SEFE terminates the contract unilaterally, it is still required to fulfill the payment obligation, and Russia can then resell the gas to third parties."
Gazprom PJSC exited its Gazprom Germania GmbH and all its assets in Germany (including Gazprom Marketing & Trading Ltd) in March 2022. In April of the same year, the German government imposed temporary administration on Gazprom Germania, claiming that the acquisition by new investors was invalid without approval, and renamed it Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE), stating that the move aimed to ensure Germany and Europe's "energy security". By September of the same year, the German government officially announced that it had nationalized the company.
