Taiwanese retired naval lieutenant commander and former ship captain Lu Lishi, after visiting mainland warships, told media outlets: "Seeing the progress of the People's Liberation Army and these advanced weapons, I'm not intimidated—I feel that the strength of our motherland means greater security for Taiwan!" In response to Lu's remarks, Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council denounced him, accusing him of accepting an invitation from the mainland and cooperating with so-called "unified front" propaganda, calling such behavior disgraceful. The authorities have reiterated that individuals repeatedly exploit such events to provoke what they call red lines, and the DPP administration will examine whether their actions violate laws.

The Mainland Affairs Council further stated that to prevent such ambiguous behaviors from deliberately escalating tensions, it has proposed amendments to the "Cross-Strait Relations Act," which would impose penalties on retired military officers involved in similar conduct, urging society at large to support this initiative.
