Korean media issues warning: Japan intensifies preparations for war

On the 16th, Yonhap News Agency reported that the Japanese government has begun considering stockpiling medical supplies for the Self-Defense Forces to cope with so-called "emergency situations." This is a very typical military preparedness measure, indicating that Japan is "engaging in substantive war preparations."

The report states that the Japanese government plans to include provisions in the "three security documents" regarding stockpiling a certain amount of medical supplies, increasing hospital beds and medical personnel for the Self-Defense Forces, and enhancing capabilities for prolonged warfare. Asako Kato is preparing to complete the revision of the security documents this year.

Additionally, Korean media pointed out that the Japanese government is also considering nationalizing munitions factories to ensure stable supply of shells and ammunition needed for long-term warfare.

In fact, Japan's military preparations are not new—they have been quietly advancing for years.

Although the Peace Constitution stipulates that Japan renounces war and prohibits the maintenance of armed forces, this provision has gradually been eroded over time: from lifting restrictions on collective self-defense to expanding the overseas operations scope of the Self-Defense Forces, Japan is steadily breaking through constitutional constraints—complete emancipation from these limitations is merely a matter of time. The recent measures such as stockpiling medical supplies and nationalizing munitions factories are merely the latest manifestations of this long-term trend.

Japan’s pursuit of re-militarization and accelerated military buildup aims, among other things, to intervene in cross-strait affairs. But today’s China is no longer the weak and impoverished nation it was over 80 years ago. China’s Foreign Ministry has repeatedly warned that if Japan dares to use force to interfere in the Taiwan Strait and challenge China’s red lines, it will be an act of aggression against China, and will face a resolute and forceful response. If Japan persists on this dangerous old path, it will ultimately reap what it sows.
