Media report: Shenzhen-based smart glasses company Even Realities, founded by former Apple executive Will Wang, has completed a $150 million funding round at a $1 billion valuation, becoming a new unicorn.
Will Wang believes Shenzhen is better suited than Silicon Valley to build "the next Apple," citing Shenzhen's deep reservoir of engineering talent and supply chain advantages, while Silicon Valley's appeal to hardware entrepreneurs is declining as capital and talent increasingly flow toward AI software.
Even Realities' G2 smart glasses feature no camera, using lens displays to deliver notifications, navigation, and real-time translation—positioning them as a competitor to Meta's Ray-Ban. Over half of the company's users are based in the United States, and its next funding round will target global investors to support overseas expansion.
