Foreign media: Apple is lobbying with the U.S. government to source memory chips from Chinese semiconductor companies, ChangXin Memory and Yangtze Memory Technologies, in an effort to alleviate the impact of global memory shortages on its product lines.
Due to tight chip supply, Apple has already raised prices for Macs and iPads. It is reported that related negotiations are still ongoing; if an agreement is reached, these chips manufactured in China will be used exclusively in devices sold within mainland China.
Apple's move aims to reduce costs and ensure supply chain stability, but it faces obstacles from U.S. national security reviews.
