Foreign Media: Apple Seeks U.S. Government Approval to Purchase Memory Chips from Chinese Companies Blacklisted by the U.S.

According to reports cited by foreign media and citing informed sources, American tech giant Apple is attempting to secure approval from the Trump administration to purchase memory chips from China's Yangtze Memory Technologies (CXMT), a company listed on the Pentagon’s "blacklist."

The report quoted six informed sources stating: "Apple is lobbying the Trump administration to gain permission to purchase memory chips produced by China’s Yangtze Memory Technologies (CXMT), which has been placed on the Pentagon’s blacklist... The iPhone manufacturer has launched a lobbying campaign to seek White House approval, aiming to alleviate financial pressure caused by rising memory chip prices."

Notably, the United States has not banned Apple from purchasing chips made by CXMT; however, the company has been included on the Pentagon’s blacklist, alongside dozens of other Chinese firms allegedly posing potential threats to U.S. national security. Apple is attempting to circumvent related reputational risks.

Previously, Beijing has firmly opposed the U.S.’s unwarranted harassment of Chinese companies and their inclusion in discriminatory lists. China has repeatedly emphasized that it "will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises."
