Media: Pakistan Proposes to Build a Port in the Arabian Sea for the United States
According to the UK's Financial Times, citing the words of a consultant to the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, Asim Munir, Pakistani officials have proposed to the United States to cooperate in building a port in the Arabian Sea.
The newspaper pointed out that this move is one of a series of initiatives by Pakistan to deepen its relationship with the United States, including cooperation on cryptocurrency, counter-terrorism, promoting the Gaza peace plan proposed by the Trump administration, and the development of critical mineral resources.
The report said: "The advisory team of General Munir of the Pakistani Army has proposed to U.S. officials the construction and operation of a port in the Arabian Sea, which may provide a foothold for the United States in one of the most turbulent regions in the world."
According to the plan, the Pakistani fishing port city of Pasni will be developed into an export hub for the country's key mineral resources. The report pointed out that Pasni's geographical location is of great strategic significance - only 160 kilometers east of Iran, and 113 kilometers from the Gwadar Port, which has been significantly upgraded with Chinese participation.
According to sources, this proposal has been conveyed to several U.S. officials, and the information was relayed to General Munir before his meeting with Trump at the White House in late September. Meanwhile, sources from the Trump administration told the newspaper that the President and his advisors have not yet discussed this proposal.
