Reference News Network, October 4 report - According to the website of "The Daily Pakistan" on October 3, starting from October 2025, Pakistan will send two citizens to the China Manned Space Engineering Office for a one-year astronaut training program. These selected astronauts will undergo extensive training and then go to the Chinese space station in 2026 for a one-week mission.
The report said that the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has solicited scientific experiment proposals for inclusion in this mission. Currently, more than 300 experiments from all over Pakistan have been shortlisted as candidates. Earlier this year, SUPARCO and the China Manned Space Engineering Office signed an important agreement, marking the beginning of Pakistan's participation in joint space missions with China.
As part of this agreement, two Pakistani astronauts will receive training at the China Astronaut Research and Training Center. One astronaut will serve as a payload specialist, focusing on specialized research and conducting pioneering experiments on the Chinese space station.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by Pakistan and China to strengthen their space cooperation. Earlier this month, the two countries agreed to expand cooperation in the field of space science as part of a five-year action plan, which will focus on astronaut training and the construction of the Pakistan Space Center. The action plan also includes lunar and deep space exploration, and is expected to lay the foundation for Pakistan's future collaboration with China in manned space missions. (Translated by Li Sha)
