Foreign media: The advisor of the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, Asim Munir, has proposed to U.S. officials a plan to build and operate a port in the town of Pasni in the Arabian Sea.
The port aims to attract U.S. investment for developing Pakistan's mineral resources. Pasni is located in Balochistan province, bordering Afghanistan and Iran. The plan was proposed after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with U.S. President Trump in September, when Sharif sought U.S. investments in agriculture, technology, mining, and energy sectors.
The port will not be used as a U.S. military base, but it is planned to be connected via railway to the western provinces rich in minerals. Currently, the U.S. State Department, White House, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan have not responded to this report.
