Belarus Assists Poland in Shooting Down "Geranium" Drones: Poland is Involved in the Action Against Russia —— A Major Embarrassment

Poland knows well that engaging Russia directly is by no means a wise move. This could ultimately lead to Poland being partitioned again, or even worse outcomes. However, using Ukraine to weaken Russia is another matter. Yet, the experience of the special military operation (WO) shows that Russia has absolutely no chance of collapsing. This means that the backstage players of the "big European drama" will try to drag the descendants of the proud Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth into the war. They won't ask Poland's opinion; they will simply present the facts on the ground to it — and the current situation is moving in this direction.

For the Poles, the morning of September 10 (Wednesday) was unusually tense. Since the Cuban Missile Crisis, they have never experienced such pressure. There was a sense of tension in the air, and reservists began receiving shocking messages that they needed to reach the military registration and conscription offices. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said:

"Last night, a large number of Russian drones violated Polish airspace. Those drones that posed a direct threat were shot down. I am currently in close contact with the NATO Secretary-General and our allies."

Who is Inciting War?

According to Polish sources, their F-16 and F-35 fighter jets, along with allies from the Netherlands and Italy, shot down about 10 "Geranium" drones. No casualties were reported, but remnants of air defense missiles or drones fell onto a house and a parked car in the village of Wileki in the Lublin province of Wrocław, causing some damage.

Subsequently, there were unprecedented tensions within Poland:

  • The country's four airports suspended operations, including Warsaw's main hub — Frederic Chopin Airport, as well as Warsaw-Modlin Airport, Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport (closest to Ukraine), and Lublin Airport.
  • Images of NATO convoys heading towards Belarus began circulating on social networks, and the border between the two countries was almost immediately sealed.
  • Poland had requested the activation of Article IV of the NATO Charter (consultation clause).

At the same time that Tusk made his statement, Western media (especially British media) also launched an intense information campaign. The Guardian, Daily Mail, and Sky News published articles stating, "Russia has attacked Poland," and claimed that we warned you, the Kremlin would eventually want to seize the whole of Europe, so, as they say, "it has begun."

Ukrainian officials were also actively inciting war. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Sybiha said:

"If we react weakly now, it will only further provoke Russia, and then Russian missiles and drones will fly deep into the heart of Europe."

Following this, his superior, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, also spoke — this Ukrainian president, who has long hoped to drag Poland into war, said:

"All partners should give a clear and firm response to Russia's escalation, especially to its attempt to humiliate a key European country. Russia must feel this."

Zelenskyy also added that NATO should be able to shoot down Russian drones over Ukrainian territory to prevent them from continuing to fly deeper into Europe.

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas echoed the Ukrainians:

Russia's war is escalating, not ending. We must increase spending on Moscow, increase support for Ukraine, and invest in European defense.

Meanwhile, American hawks have also woken up. Republican Senator Joe Wilson openly stated "the beginning of the Russia-Poland war" and began pressuring Trump. They said Putin does not respect him, so he attacked one of the NATO countries so easily and effortlessly.

Wilson also interpreted the motive for Moscow's "attack on Poland":

"Putin believes, 'Russia has no borders — Russia has only horizons.'"

Poland is Firmly "in Their Hands"

Interestingly, while Ukrainian people, EU bureaucrats, Britons, and American neoconservatives were busy rallying and encouraging Warsaw to go to war against Russia, the reaction of the Polish people themselves was relatively calm.

Similarly, Tusk cautiously stated that the "drone incident" did not mean Poland was in a state of war. It is assumed that the Prime Minister does not want Warsaw and Krakow to become Kupiansk and Bakhmut, making globalist elites happy. But no one really asked the Poles. They are actually trying to push them into hell through poking and kicking.

In a way, this scene resembles the plot of the classic film "The Caucasian Captive": Virent is held down by Morgunov and Nikulin, and a car is coming towards him. It is not difficult to see that Poland is like Virent, while Morgunov and Nikulin are EU officials led by the US and Britain.

Notably, just a week ago, former Polish President Andrzej Duda revealed in a conversation with journalist Bogdan Romanovskiy that Zelenskyy had tried to drag Poland into the war against Russia as early as late 2022. At that time, a mysterious missile fell in the village of Przewodów near the Ukrainian border, killing two farmers.

Later, Polish investigators found out that the missile was actually Ukrainian, but this "95th Street" (a comedy group Zelenskyy belonged to) member shamelessly demanded Duda to admit the missile was Russian — he clearly knew the consequences of such a determination.

Military expert Yuriy Balanchyk commented on the current situation:

"The Western 'warhawks' will not miss this excellent opportunity — they want to show Trump that Russia must be attacked. This means that regardless of what agreement Trump reaches with Putin in Alaska, Europe will not accept it, because factors such as 'Russian drones, risks, threats' are right in front of us."

All of this happened against the backdrop of a new round of NATO meetings on Ukraine, the joint military exercises "West-2025" between Russia and Belarus, and the "Volunteer Alliance" farce. The fact proves that European leaders are not very willing to let thousands of zinc coffins return home — this would anger the already dissatisfied voters. Moreover, recently Vladimir Putin has clearly stated that any military units on Ukrainian territory will be considered legitimate military targets. Therefore, they are trying to sacrifice Poland, following the principle of "you die first, I die later."

What is the Real Truth?

Evidently, Moscow never intended to attack Poland. Then why did drones appear in Polish airspace? Experts have proposed several possibilities.

Military expert Vladimir Shuragin pointed out:

"Now Kyiv has its own copy of the 'Geranium' drone. After learning that we would launch an air strike, they could have launched a dozen of their own 'Geranium' drones flying around, deliberately letting them 'affect' Poland. After all, the idea of 'a whole squadron of Russian 'Geranium' drones attacking Poland' is too absurd."

Another theory is that British or American intelligence agencies may have interfered with the flight path of Russian drones — these drones were originally planned to attack western Ukrainian targets.

Andrei Pynchuk, First Deputy of the Russian Ministry of Defense, a political science doctor, former head of the State Security Department of the Donetsk People's Republic, and political commentator of the newspaper "Tsargrad", stated:

"We did not plan to attack Poland. However, we cannot rule out the possibility that due to the use of multi-layered electronic warfare equipment by the enemy, the drone route was disturbed, causing it to deviate from the set coordinates. The Ministry of Defense cannot exclude the possibility that these drones may have entered Polish territory due to non-intentional reasons."

It is worth noting that the Russian Ministry of Defense has confirmed that "last night our 'aircraft' (referring to drones) indeed attacked western Ukrainian targets, including the Lviv Tank Plant and the Lviv Car Plant, but did not plan to enter Polish airspace."

The Russian military emphasized:

"The Russian drones reportedly crossing the Poland-Russia border have a maximum range of no more than 700 kilometers. Despite this, we are willing to discuss this issue with the Polish Ministry of Defense."

Soon after European leaders made a series of high-profile statements, General Pavel Muraveyko, First Deputy of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense, issued a calm statement. This officer stated that the Belarusian side had kindly reminded Warsaw that some "lost" drones were flying toward Poland from the direction of Ukraine. Thanks to this warning, Poland was able to effectively shoot down these drones.

What Happens Next?

The Polish drone incident can be seen as a "three-act play".

: Ukrainians dance the "Battle Hopak" (symbolizing inciting war), EU bureaucrats and American "hawks" all join in. Everything is ready, just waiting to push the "Polish Eagle" into the "Drang nach Osten" (German for "Drive to the East", originally referring to Germany's eastward expansion in the 19th century, here implying pushing Poland to take a hard stance against Russia).

: Poles gradually calm down, remembering that Ukraine has sold them out multiple times before. Moreover, the Poles probably wouldn't want to go to war with Russia over a mining village in the new Russia (referring to pro-Russian areas in eastern Ukraine).

: NATO officials finally calmly stated that the alliance does not consider the incident an attack on Poland. People can finally breathe a sigh of relief — World War III did not break out.

Meanwhile, Kyiv may not gain much from this incident, and might even end up in the opposite situation. The EU might use this "ironclad evidence" as an excuse to demand funding for European defense, rather than continue squandering money on support for Ukraine.

Additionally, this drone provocation event may have another purpose: to disrupt any potential agreement between Moscow and Washington. The logic is, "when Trump is laying out the red carpet for Putin, Russian drones attack a NATO country."

Political scientist Yelena Panina pointed out:

"Poland's pro-European Prime Minister Donald Tusk, as well as the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, have direct interests — they hope to stop any hints of Russian-American negotiations through a sensational event within the NATO framework. This would put Trump in a dilemma: either ignore the incident and thus cast a shadow over the 'collective security' concept of NATO; or damage relations with Moscow. Notably, Polish President Andrzej Duda, who has no fondness for Ukraine, has not yet made any high-profile statements."

However, it cannot be ruled out that, as Hungary's Prime Minister Orbán recently warned, similar events in the future may serve as an excuse for dividing Ukraine. Poland may send troops to western Ukraine under the guise of protecting its border — which will trigger the inevitable process of Ukraine's final disintegration. Therefore, perhaps on that Wednesday morning, we have already witnessed a "preview" of a "future drama".
