The CN Tower in Toronto has completely closed its dining services, with 250 employees locked out of the building!

On Monday morning, the union Unifor, which represents 250 CN Tower employees, stated that these employees were locked outside the company by Canada Lands Company, the state-owned institution responsible for operating the Toronto landmark, meaning they were forced to stop working and prohibited from working.

Unifor strongly condemned the employer, stating that employees have not received a pension increase for over 15 years; their wage increases have far lagged behind inflation levels; employee benefits have seen "no substantial progress"; and health and safety issues in the workplace have been "continuously present" and long unresolved.

Canada Lands Company said that they have been negotiating with the union since April and offered their "best offer" on June 26, but the union chose not to respond.

It is reported that the deadline for labor negotiations was at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, and due to the failure to reach an agreement, the forced shutdown ultimately occurred.

Both sides are currently at an impasse, and the date for resuming work is undetermined.

A spokesperson for the CN Tower confirmed that the observation deck, EdgeWalk high-altitude walking project, and souvenir shop are still open as usual, but due to the labor dispute, the 360-degree restaurant, VUE Bistros restaurant, and Le Café cafe have all been closed.

The CN Tower's official website has issued a notice, stating that visitors can currently bring food and non-alcoholic beverages into the viewing area and are advised to check the website for updates regularly.
