Heat wave continues, Toronto sets a record of 46°C in perceived temperature!
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for most areas of Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), stating that hot and humid weather may continue until Wednesday. The perceived temperature will remain above 40 degrees, creating dangerous high-temperature conditions.
Environment Canada said: "This is the first major heat event of the season, which is expected to last through this week, accompanied by dangerous high temperatures and humidity."
In Toronto, the daytime temperature on Sunday reached 35°C, with a perceived temperature as high as 46°C.
Toronto set a new June record for perceived temperature, reaching 46.3, surpassing the previous historical high of 45.6 recorded on June 30, 2018.
If Toronto Pearson International Airport records three consecutive days of 33°C or higher, it would be the first "heatwave" in June since 2012.
Weather expert Carl Lam from CityNews said that temperatures are expected to peak on Monday, which could be one of the hottest days in Toronto in recent years.
