Kazakhstan Oil Transport Emergency Diversion 300,000 Tons Exported via Alternative Routes

Kazakh International News Agency - According to a statement released by the Kazakhstani State Oil and Gas Company (KazMunayGas), due to restrictions on transporting Kazakhstani crude oil through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) system, the company took quick measures to divert crude oil through the KazTransOil pipeline system to other export routes by the end of 2025.

During the period of limited transport capacity in the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, approximately 300,000 tons of crude oil were reallocated through the KazTransOil system for subsequent exports to Germany, China, and via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, as well as shipments from the Novorossiysk and Ust-Luga ports. Given that the restrictions on crude oil reception by the Caspian Pipeline Consortium still exist in January 2026, the diversion measures will continue to be implemented.

At the same time, the work of transporting Kazakhstani crude oil through multiple alternative export routes is ongoing.

Data shows that the supply of crude oil from Kazakhstan to the German Schweinfurt refinery increased in 2025, with total exports reaching 2.1 million tons throughout the year. It is expected that the export volume in this direction will further increase to 2.5 million tons in 2026.

Additionally, the amount of crude oil exported from Kazakhstan through the Aktau port to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline reached 1.3 million tons in 2025, and is expected to increase to 1.6 million tons in 2026.

Crude oil exports to China remain stable. In 2025, Kazakhstan exported approximately 1.1 million tons of crude oil to China.
