President of Kazakhstan: Support for Overseas Compatriots Returning to Their Historic Homeland
Kazakhstan International News Agency - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in an interview with the "Turkistan" newspaper, stated that he supports overseas compatriots returning to Kazakhstan, their historic homeland, but also pointed out that relevant issues regarding their integration into society must be properly addressed.
Tokayev pointed out that over 16,000 overseas compatriots moved to Kazakhstan last year, and among those of working age, about 15% have higher education. Many face certain difficulties in adapting to Kazakhstan's socio-economic environment.
"Of course, I welcome overseas compatriots returning to their historic homeland, but we need to address the issue of their social integration. They mainly settle in densely populated areas and towns in Almaty region, as well as in Zhenis city of Mangystau region. The central and local governments, as well as law enforcement agencies, need to pay high attention to this situation," said President Tokayev.
The president emphasized that Kazakhstan adheres to the principle of equal rights for all citizens, and no one will enjoy extra privileges or preferential treatment.
He said, "We are building a civilized, just state. Only through the rule of law, improved education quality, advocacy of civilization, diligent work, discipline, and respect for national symbols can we achieve this goal."
Tokayev added that the future of the country lies in talented, innovative, and patriotic youth. He has always emphasized that trust in and cultivation of the younger generation is the key driving force for the country's development.
