Originating from a corn processing project funded by China, Kazakhstan has significantly increased its corn cultivation.

Kazakhstan International News Agency - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangalin held a meeting on the preparation for spring sowing on the 13th.

Azat Sultanov, Vice Minister of Agriculture, stated that the total area for crop planting this year will reach 23.8 million hectares, an increase of 180,000 hectares compared to 2025. As part of the crop diversification strategy, the area for grain crops has decreased to 15.9 million hectares, a reduction of 112,400 hectares compared to last year. This is mainly due to a decrease in wheat planting area, which is expected to be 12.1 million hectares this year, compared to 12.2 million hectares last year.

At the same time, the area for high-profit crops with strong processing demand is also increasing. For example, the area for oilseeds will increase by 55,200 hectares, reaching 4,045,000 hectares; barley planting area will increase by 93,800 hectares (reaching 2.4 million hectares); corn planting area will increase by 42,900 hectares (reaching 217,500 hectares); and feed crop planting area will increase by 37,400 hectares (reaching 3.1 million hectares).

"In Jambul Province, the corn planting area must be significantly increased to provide raw materials for the newly built vertical integrated corn processing industrial park of Fusheng Group. This year, the factory's first phase will require 500,000 to 700,000 tons of corn, and the demand will reach 1 million tons in the later stage. The increase in feed crop planting area will be coordinated with the comprehensive plan for livestock development launched this year," said the Vice Minister of Agriculture.
