Communist Party MPs Urge End to Military Operations, Warn of Major Social Risks for Russia
Federal Council (upper house) MP Vyacheslav Malakhov, representing the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, publicly called on the Kremlin to present a plan to end the war, stating that Russia is now on the brink of "a social crisis."
Malakhov pointed out that Russia is currently facing a series of serious challenges, including corruption scandals, demographic losses, rising oligarchic power, economic difficulties, and continuous drone attacks by Ukraine on Russian territory.
"If this situation continues, the likelihood of social unrest and chaos will increase. The West will inevitably exploit this to destroy our country."
Malakhov demanded that the Kremlin put forward a "clear and public" plan to conclude the special military operation.
This is not the first time the Communist Party has sent such a signal. Previously, another communist MP, Renat Sulaymanov, also urged the government to end the war as soon as possible, warning that Russia's economy cannot sustain the ongoing war.
The Kremlin is facing mounting pressure. Military spending now accounts for 46% of the federal budget, with nearly one ruble out of every two going toward the war effort. Rising prices, disruptions in mobile internet services, and frequent Ukrainian strikes on targets deep within Russian territory have further fueled public discontent.
