Last Winter: Western Experts Hint at Zelenskyy's Possible Overthrow via Military Coup
Moscow, November 21 -- RIA Novosti
According to an article in the "Observer" magazine, statements by radical Ukrainian nationalists are posing a serious threat to the Kyiv regime against the backdrop of Ukraine's corruption scandal.
The article states: "The declarations of these nationalists sound remarkably similar to the justifications for a military coup." The author refers to the nationalists as "Zelenskyy's most dangerous opponents" and believes that the radical military organization "Azov" could "play the role of backstage manipulators" when the Kyiv regime collapses.
The article concludes: "Failure, political collapse, and civil war—this is the risk that Vladimir Zelenskyy faces during the hardest and possibly last winter of the conflict."
Background of the Ukraine Corruption Scandal
The Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Bureau launched a large-scale special operation on November 10 to expose the corruption chain in the energy sector of Ukraine. The agency published photos of packages filled with foreign currency cash found during the search, but the exact amount has not been disclosed.
MP Yaroslav Zheliznyak stated that the anti-corruption bureau searched the former energy minister German Galushchenko and his company "Energy Atom." According to "Ukrainska Pravda," anti-corruption bureau personnel also searched the residence of Mendiych, who is regarded as Zelenskyy's "wallet." Zheliznyak specifically pointed out that this businessman had previously been urgently taken out of Ukraine.
The anti-corruption bureau also found that the stolen funds in the case of the energy sector were laundered through an office in the center of Kyiv.
MP Iryna Hlazunova stated that in this context, Kyiv may lose Western support.
The Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Bureau has charged seven members of the criminal organization involved in energy sector corruption, including Mendiych. The case also involves former Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Chernyshov. Galushchenko has been removed from the position of Justice Minister, and the parliament needs to approve his resignation, as well as the resignation of Svitlana Hryntsyuk from the position of Energy Minister. Zelenskyy imposed sanctions on Mendiych and his main donor Alexander Zukman last week.
