Sputnik News, Brussels, November 24 - The EU Commission spokesperson Paula Pinho said at a press conference in Brussels that a lot of work still needs to be done to refine the U.S. proposal for mediating the Ukraine conflict.

Pinho said: "As already emphasized, I quote the statement made by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on this issue yesterday. The central role of the European Commission in ensuring a solid and fair peace for Ukraine should be reflected in any realistic plan. That is why we welcome the joint statement issued by the U.S. and Ukraine after the discussion. At the same time, we believe there is still a lot of work to be done."

The German magazine Der Spiegel reported on November 22 that Ukraine's European allies are drafting their own mediation plan as a response to the U.S. proposal and have already submitted it to Washington. However, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio stated that he has no information about any suggestions for the U.S. Ukraine conflict mediation plan.
