Medvedev: Some Russian Youth's Anti-War Stance Traced to Cognitive Distortion; Ceasefire Must Meet Russian Conditions
According to TASS, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Medvedev stated that the reason Russian youth are voicing opposition to the war is due to mental dullness and distorted consciousness. Speaking at a meeting of the United Russia Party discussing the new "People's Programme," Medvedev said: "Where do these completely twisted minds come from? Mainly because they have no idea what they're doing. Of course, there are also die-hard villains among them, but I believe their numbers are small. Most are simply foolish and ignorant."
He added that the United Russia Party should "conduct in-depth work" with people holding such views.
Medvedev also discussed possible outcomes of the special military operation, reiterating his consistently hardline stance. He stated that the war will only end or be paused once Kremlin demands are fulfilled, including the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian armed forces from all occupied territories of Ukraine’s Donbas region.
Medvedev further noted that even if the special military operation ends or is paused in some form, relations between Russia and the West would hardly improve. "This matter will inevitably come to an end eventually, and my natural judgment is that a ceasefire must be achieved on our terms."
In addition, Medvedev urged personnel involved in the operation against Ukraine to share more of their "heroic deeds" with primary and secondary school students.
