Be careful tomorrow! Activities in downtown Toronto, police emergency warning, the whole city on high alert!

Toronto will hold the annual "United Jewish Appeal of Canada and Israel Walk" this Sunday, May 25th. It is expected that more than 50,000 people will participate.

This event will take place from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM on Sunday at the Sherman Campus, with a walking route of 3.9 kilometers. The relevant road closures will be from early morning until 4:00 PM,

Toronto Police announced on Friday that they had received intelligence indicating "some people plan to disrupt the event," and warned of "people planning to cause trouble."

Toronto Deputy Chief Lauren Pogue issued a serious statement via video on Friday, stating that the police hope this 56-year-old event can "proceed safely and smoothly."

She said that the entire city of Toronto has entered a state of high alert. In addition to Toronto police officers, officers from other police forces in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will also participate in security tasks, with some personnel patrolling around the approximately 4-kilometer-long parade route in North York.

In her statement, she emphasized: "We always defend the rights of peaceful assembly and expression, but we will not tolerate intimidation, harassment, hate speech, or any criminal behavior. Anyone engaging in illegal activities will face arrest."

Last year, about 50,000 people participated in this walk, setting a historical record for the highest number of participants. This year, the organization stated that registration numbers have once again set a new record and are expected to break the 50,000 mark. The event aims to celebrate the Jewish community as well as Israel and Jewish culture.

It is worth noting that last year, Toronto police arrested six people during this event, aged between 22 and 75, with charges including public incitement of hatred, resisting law enforcement, and assault.

This year, under the influence of global tensions, the police's alert level will be even stricter.
