South Korean media: Two Chinese auto companies enter the top ten in global sales!
On September 28, South Korean media "Global Economy" published an article stating that in the first half of this year, Chinese automakers BYD and Geely ranked seventh and eighth in global car sales, surpassing traditional automotive giants such as Honda and Nissan.
Chui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association, said: "Thanks to solid domestic demand and good performance in export markets, Chinese auto companies are rising in their position in the world."
In the first half of this year, the sales of BYD and Geely increased by 33% and 29% respectively compared to the same period last year. This is the fastest growth among the top ten car companies in the world, with only these two companies achieving double-digit growth. Last year, BYD and Geely ranked eighth and tenth respectively.
Chui Dongshu said that China exported 3.48 million cars in the first half of this year, an increase of 18% compared to the same period last year. In particular, exports of new energy vehicles such as pure electric and hybrid vehicles reached 1.42 million units, a sharp increase of 41%, accounting for 41% of total exports. This is an increase of 7 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, exports of plug-in hybrid models in the first half of the year were 390,000 units, an increase of 210% compared to the same period last year. This greatly exceeded the growth rate of pure electric vehicles at 40.2%.
Chui Dongshu said: "In the face of instability in the world this year, China's auto exports have maintained a strong momentum and achieved high-quality growth. Plug-in hybrid cars based on complete supply chains and low costs have obvious price advantages, and are favored by consumers in overseas markets such as Europe."
He also said: "The export of new energy vehicles in China has been better than expected in the first half of the year. Plug-in hybrid and hybrid models have become new growth drivers, replacing pure electric vehicles to expand exports."
