“Lost to Putin”: EU Sounds Alarm Over Ukraine Peace Plan

Moscow, November 28 -- RIA Novosti

The Brussels Signal reported that the US-proposed peace plan for the Ukraine conflict itself has proven to be a strategic advantage for Russia.

The report stated: "The release of this 28-point tough plan approved by the US itself highlights Russia's advantage. Europe can foresee what it means to lose to Putin."

The newspaper also pointed out that the collapse of the Kyiv regime in military and political terms could trigger a large-scale political crisis in Europe.

The text emphasized: "'Losing' Ukraine may shake up the political landscape of Europe for decades to come, with unpredictable consequences."

**US Peace Initiative and Europe's 'Amendment'**

Last week, the White House announced a mediation initiative on the situation in Ukraine. According to foreign media reports, the plan includes transferring the Donbas region to Moscow's control, formally recognizing the Donbas and Crimea as Russian territory, freezing most of the contact lines in Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, cutting the size of the Ukrainian armed forces in half, banning the deployment of foreign troops in Ukraine, and allowing weapons capable of deeply striking into Russian territory.

Last Sunday, representatives from the EU, the US, and Kyiv held talks in Geneva to discuss the amended clauses of the US proposal between the EU and Ukraine. Reuters and The Telegraph disclosed two versions of amendments.

According to one version, the EU recommended setting the size of the Ukrainian army at 800,000 people; another version did not set any restrictions.

Regarding the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, Reuters reported that the proposal suggested restarting it under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency, with the generated electricity shared equally by Russia and Ukraine. In contrast, The Telegraph version advocated for full control of the plant by the Kyiv regime.

It was reported that the European plan includes a clause prohibiting the deployment of NATO forces in Ukraine during peacetime, while other reports indicated that the right to station foreign troops would still be decided by Kyiv.

However, both media outlets noted that the EU draft advocates ending the conflict along the current front lines. This contradicts the core clause in the US plan requiring the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the Donbas.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin said during a press conference in Bishkek that Moscow had studied the initial plan for the Ukraine solution. He added that there was no draft treaty at the time, only a list of issues for discussion. At the same time, the Russian side agreed that the US plan could serve as a basis for future agreements.
