People's Party of Thailand Opposes the Amnesty Bill Excluding Thaksin!
Members of the People's Party of Thailand, Rom, explained the party's position on the amnesty bill, stating that the bill should not include crimes under Article 112 of the Criminal Code, and opposed the bill for being discriminatory, especially arguing that it should not specifically exclude certain individuals or groups, but rather focus on certain types of behavior.
"For the Kingdom of Thailand Party, they have always said they want to eliminate conflicts. Today, the facts show that they support a discriminatory law."
Rom stated that in the People's Party's bill, there is a clause that does not accept amnesty for former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and others. Thaksin can choose to give up his right to amnesty, but it cannot be said that he should not be subject to the law because he is Thaksin.
Some people have said that they do not want amnesty, insisting that they are innocent and are prepared to go to court to prove their innocence, which is their right.
"But we must acknowledge that establishing an exception mechanism is not easy in legal terms. Many bills may apply to politicians and leaders. If we believe that prominent people should not be granted amnesty, then the law would lose its meaning."
