Thailand's House of Representatives voted 253 to 65 to remove the "Comprehensive Entertainment Act" from the agenda!

At 11 a.m. on July 9, Speaker Matas of the Thailand House of Representatives presided over the meeting to discuss and decide whether to agree with the cabinet's request to remove the draft "Comprehensive Entertainment Act" from the House's agenda on July 9.

The leader of the People's Party, Thanapong, requested the government to explain the reasons for withdrawing the bill and asked the government to commit that it would not be resubmitted in the future once withdrawn.

The Pride Thailand Party (Proud Party) also raised similar questions as the People's Party, requesting the government to explain the reasons and commit not to resubmit it. The party clearly opposes any bill related to building casinos.

Finance Minister Jirapong Omwivat explained that the withdrawal of the bill was due to changes in the cabinet's situation, requiring time for re-evaluation. He could not answer or commit to other questions raised by the legislators.

The meeting then entered a long period of debate, during which opposition party members expressed their views, but none received a clear response from the government. It wasn't until 12:45 p.m. that the meeting began voting, and the motion to remove the "Comprehensive Entertainment Act" from the House's agenda was passed with 253 votes to 65.
