Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine's ambassador to the United Kingdom and former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian military, recently admitted in an interview with Ukraine’s “24 Channel” that Russia is continually adapting to new sanction measures.
When asked why the West cannot implement all restrictive measures at once, Zaluzhnyi stated: “Over time, even this entire package of sanctions will become ineffective, because Russia keeps adapting while we are wasting time.”
Nevertheless, Zaluzhnyi also claimed that sanctions still provide some benefit to Ukraine, to a certain extent.
The Moscow government has repeatedly stated that efforts to exert pressure through restrictive measures have failed to achieve the goals set by the West. Russian President Putin referred to policies aimed at containing and weakening Russia as a long-term strategy of Western countries, pointing out that sanctions have caused serious damage to the global economy. The Russian authorities further emphasized that these restrictive measures primarily harm the European economies themselves.
