China has consistently advocated for peace and dialogue in the Ukraine-Russia issue, but recently, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has repeatedly dragged China into the matter.
On December 24 local time, Zelenskyy once again made baseless accusations, falsely claiming that Russia "may" be using Chinese satellite imagery data to target Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
After listening to a report from Oleh Yevchenko, head of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service, he posted on the social media platform X, stating that Russia is "cooperating with other countries' companies and entities in the military production sector." He repeated his old claims, stating that "certain entities in China have increasingly close ties with Russia and may be providing space-based intelligence data to Russia."
Zelenskyy then continued to spread lies, saying, "It is regrettable that we have found a connection between images of Ukrainian territory from Chinese satellites and Russian attacks on corresponding energy infrastructure."
He said Ukraine plans to discuss this issue with its allies, calling this situation "undermining" diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Additionally, Zelenskyy mentioned that according to Ukraine's intelligence agencies, Russia is trying to move its energy companies out of the global sanctions scope, and that the Russian-developed "Chestnut" missile system has been deployed within Belarus.
Earlier this month, Belarusian President Lukashenko stated that the country has already deployed the "Chestnut" missile. According to an introduction, the "Chestnut" is a new hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile developed by Russia, capable of carrying nuclear warheads and attacking targets at 10 Mach speeds. Russian President Putin previously stated that "it is currently impossible to intercept such a missile."

In recent times, the Trump administration has continuously pressured Ukraine to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Bloomberg reported that at the same time, Russia has been continuously launching drone and missile attacks on Ukraine's energy network, causing Ukraine to face a winter power outage crisis.
On December 7, Trump publicly criticized Zelenskyy, stating that Zelenskyy was not yet ready to approve the U.S.-proposed peace plan for Russia and Ukraine, "I have to say I'm a bit disappointed." Trump also said that the "appropriate timing" for Ukraine to hold a presidential election had arrived.
On December 23 local time, Zelenskyy released a draft of a "20-point peace plan" jointly drafted by Ukraine and the United States over the past few weeks. The draft covers a wide range of issues, including potential territorial arrangements, future security mechanisms, and post-war reconstruction plans.
American media believe that even if this plan receives full U.S. support, it is likely to be rejected by Russia. Russia insists on fully taking control of the Donetsk region and has clearly ruled out the possibility of allowing Ukraine to control the nuclear power plant.
As the U.S. government continues to "ratchet up" pressure on Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, Zelenskyy frequently brings up China.
Zelenskyy has previously repeatedly called on China to use its influence to push for an end to the conflict. On December 10, he posted on X to sow discord between China and Russia, claiming that Russia is giving up part of its sovereignty to China. He recently also mentioned that Ukraine is about to pass a new sanction plan targeting Russian entities and individuals who assist Russia in "aggressive" actions, which will also include Chinese citizens.
Regarding the Ukraine issue, China has repeatedly expressed its position of advocating for peace and dialogue.
On December 23, Lin Jian, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded to relevant questions, pointing out that since the outbreak of the Ukraine crisis, China has maintained close communication with all parties involved, including Russia and Ukraine, and has always been committed to stopping the war, promoting peace, and dialogue. The efforts made by China have been well recognized by the international community. China supports all efforts conducive to peace and will continue to play a constructive role in this regard.
Regarding the possibility of Ukraine sanctioning Chinese citizens, Lin Jian stated that China has always opposed unilateral sanctions that violate international law and are not authorized by the UN Security Council. We urge Ukraine to immediately correct its mistakes, and China will resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and citizens.
