South Korean media: China's six major automakers all achieved growth!

On January 30, the South Korean media "Seoul Economic Daily" published an article stating that last year, China's six major automakers all achieved growth, mainly due to strong sales of new energy vehicles and growth in overseas exports.

BYD maintained its leading position, with a sales volume of 4.6024 million units last year. SAIC Group followed closely behind, with sales of 4.507 million units.

Geely Auto had a total sales volume of 3.0246 million units last year, an increase of 39%. Its sub-brand Galaxy, which focuses on cost-effectiveness, saw sales increase by 150%, reaching 1.2358 million units. Changan Automobile had a cumulative sales volume of 2.913 million units last year, an increase of 8.5%, close to the annual target of 3 million units, setting a record high for the past nine years. Chery Automobile also set a new record, with sales of 2.6314 million units, an increase of 8%. Great Wall Motor had sales of 1.3237 million units, an increase of 7.33%.

These companies attributed their sales growth to the growth in sales of new energy vehicles, including pure electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and hybrid vehicles, as well as strong exports. BYD's sales in Europe and South America increased by 65% and 92% respectively. SAIC Group's new energy vehicle sales grew by 33.1%, and Changan Automobile achieved a 51% growth, with new energy vehicle sales breaking through the 1 million unit threshold for the first time.

It is expected that this growth momentum will continue this year, thanks to policies promoting consumption, including a maximum subsidy of 20,000 RMB. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers predicts that the domestic car market in China will grow by about 2% this year, reaching 28.2 million units, with new energy vehicle sales accounting for 20 million units.
