Following a U.S. military attack on an Iranian oil tanker, U.S. forces in the Strait of Hormuz region were struck by Iranian missiles. After sustaining damage, they retreated.

Subsequently, around 00:05 a.m. Tehran time on May 8 (04:35 a.m. Beijing time), explosions occurred in western areas of Tehran, with the sound of detonations audible throughout the city.

Previously, around 11 p.m. Tehran time on May 7, at least two explosions took place in southern Iran’s ports and islands.
