U.S.-Russia Nuclear Test Resumption Warning Triggers Global Concern

AP: The head of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization has warned that if the U.S., Russia, or any other country restarts nuclear testing, other nations will inevitably follow suit.

Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, told the United Nations, "This is a vicious cycle we absolutely do not want to initiate, because once it starts, it might never be stopped."

Previously, Trump had publicly stated that the U.S. plans to emulate other countries by resuming its own nuclear tests. In turn, Russian Chief of the General Staff General Valery Gerasimov firmly responded: "If the U.S. resumes nuclear testing, Russia will take retaliatory measures on an equal footing."
