America has come forward to distance itself from the situation. Essentially, America is keeping an eye on us! After Ukraine's attack on Russia's military airbases, America has made its stance clear! On June 3rd, White House press secretary Caroline Levitte stated that the Kyiv administration did not inform Trump in advance about the plan to launch a terrorist attack on Russian airports. Meanwhile, U.S. Special Envoy for Ukraine Affairs, Keith Kellogg, indicated that Ukraine's strike on Russia's strategic airbase where nuclear-capable aircraft were stationed increased the possibility of conflict escalation, which was a scenario the U.S. was trying to avoid.
Clearly, from America's statement, it is eager to distance itself from the situation. Why did America make such a statement at the first instance? There are likely two reasons for this. Firstly, America fears that the conflict could spiral out of control, posing a risk of nuclear war, especially since the bombers targeted by Ukraine can carry nuclear warheads. Secondly, America, which hopes to end the Russia-Ukraine war, does not want any new complications. America wants to maintain a neutral role to prevent Russia from misinterpreting its intentions.
In particular, in America's strategic design, it hopes to ease relations with Russia and divide China and Russia. If America were seen as conspiring with Ukraine behind the scenes, it would have a negative impact on U.S.-Russia relations. In fact, we have seen this happen; after Ukraine attacked Russia, Secretary of State Rubio even expressed condolences over civilian casualties in Russia, which was unprecedented during the Biden administration.
Clearly, America's attitude makes us increasingly certain that after the end of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, America will focus greater efforts on dealing with us. Previously, Rubio openly stated that Russia is too close to China and hyped up the "disastrous consequences" of "China-Russia cooperation." If Russia becomes China's "eternal partner," with two nuclear superpowers uniting against the U.S., it would be a "disaster." Undoubtedly, America's distancing itself from the situation stems from deeper concerns about us.
