According to a June 2 report on the website of the Russian newspaper Vedomosti, analysts from Russia's VSK Insurance Company said that China has surpassed Turkey and Thailand as the most popular summer holiday destination among Russians.
The report stated that in the first month of the 2025 summer season, based on the number of insurance policies, the most popular travel destinations for independent travelers were as follows: China (accounting for 36% of the number of travel policies), Turkey 17%, Thailand 11%, Russia 9.5%, and the UAE 8%.
Among the CIS countries and regions around Russia, Abkhazia was the most popular (4%), followed by Belarus (3%), Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan (each accounting for 1.1%).
It was reported that the number of female tourists traveling in Russia in June (60%) would exceed that of males (40%).
