[Australia Restricts Entry for Certain Iranians]
Canberra time, March 26, 2026, Australian Immigration Minister Tony Burke stated in a parliamentary speech:
Australia will temporarily restrict entry for certain Iranians. These restrictions will apply to Iranian visitors (subclass 600) visa holders starting this Thursday, for a period of six months. These visas have already been issued to over 7,000 Iranians planning to travel to Australia for tourism, business, or visiting family. When sudden conflicts erupt, as with Iran, many individuals have already obtained visas; if they were to apply now, they would actually no longer be eligible. We will use this six-month window to reassess visa applicants. Those with unknown numbers will be exempted.
