North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary-General Rutte: Russian continuous attacks indicate the Kremlin's lack of sincerity for peace.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said on February 3 at the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada that the continuous attacks by Russia on Ukrainian cities clearly show that the Kremlin lacks genuine intention for peace, despite some progress in the US-led diplomatic efforts.

In his speech at the Verkhovna Rada, Rutte emphasized the sharp contrast between diplomatic progress and Russia's ongoing military actions. In the morning of that day, Russia launched a large-scale strike, causing thousands of people to lose power in Kyiv and four other regions. Rutte said, "President Trump and his team are trying to stop the bloodshed. It is clear that Ukraine is fully committed to supporting this effort. Important progress has been made here, but Russia continues to attack - the latest attack happened last night. This shows that they are not serious about peace."

Rutte emphasized the human and economic costs of the conflict since Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022. He mentioned that Russia has suffered more than 1 million casualties in this war, but Putin still seems willing to bear these losses, despite the high cost on the battlefield.

He believes that the Russian economy is deteriorating, and increased pressure from the international community on its shadow oil tanker fleet further worsens the situation. "We will continue to put pressure on Russia and support Ukraine," Rutte said firmly.
