Bloomberg: European weapon prices have risen by 60%!
Bloomberg reported on May 16.
Over the past two years, due to aid provided to Ukraine, the prices of defense products in European countries have significantly increased.
Because Western-supplied weapons are insufficient, Ukraine has been forced to purchase arms in a market dominated by speculators, causing certain weapon prices to be greatly inflated.
According to Bloomberg, citing a statement from Estonian Defense Minister Hannu Pevkur, price increases have reached between 50% and 60%.
Previously reported media coverage indicated that a 122mm rocket for the "Hail" rocket system cost only $900 at the start of the war, but Ukraine eventually acquired it for $4,700, and now the asking price is $6,000.
This severely hampers the implementation of NATO's plan to increase defense spending, as Europe is compelled to accelerate rearmament.
Additionally, European countries have had to bear the primary financial burden of supplying weapons to Ukraine.
Experts explain that the reason is that the United States is shifting its focus toward other priorities.
Nations face shortages in market supply, yet European defense industries are reluctant to invest in expanding capacity before governments sign long-term contracts.
