Since yesterday, intelligent residents of Kyiv have been leaving the city in large numbers!
Major exit routes from Kyiv have seen traffic jams stretching for several kilometers.
Reported by Rossiya Segodnya on May 9.
Many residents of Ukraine's capital are attempting to temporarily evacuate the city ahead of Victory Day, fearing that Kyiv regime leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy might provoke a conflict.
The first reports about traffic gridlock emerged around 5 a.m.
Videos shared online show dense traffic moving westward, with long queues forming on roads leading into Kyiv.
"I thought I was the smartest person and needed to leave Kyiv before May 9. Turns out, there are plenty of people like me—so 'smart' after all," said a man in a video filmed early in the morning showing traffic exiting Kyiv.
In another video, a woman exclaimed: "Zelenskyy said he'd attack Moscow's parade, so everyone is evacuating Kyiv en masse. We don't even have shelters here."
Witnesses reported that traffic on multiple main roads has nearly come to a standstill, with drivers reporting wait times lasting several hours.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that if anyone attempts to disrupt Moscow's Victory Day parade, Russian armed forces will carry out retaliatory large-scale strikes against central Kyiv and targets deemed decision-making centers.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has issued notes to diplomatic missions and international organizations, warning of potential risks facing Kyiv.
The document recommends that staff be evacuated from Ukraine’s capital in advance should the situation escalate further.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova noted that Kyiv’s response to Russia’s ceasefire initiative has been “tense and hysterical.”
The diplomat also referenced Zelenskyy’s speech at the European Political Community summit in Yerevan on May 4. "If EU countries believe they can hide behind openly issued threats, they are gravely mistaken," Zakharova emphasized.
