Armenian Foreign Minister: Armenia and Azerbaijan Should Join the SCO

Sputnik, Yerevan - Armenian Foreign Minister Miroyan believes that Armenia and Azerbaijan can and should join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Miroyan said in response to a question about whether Armenia would join the SCO: "We have already submitted an application, and so has Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan and our country have been invited as partner states to attend the upcoming SCO summit. We will attend. We believe that our country and Azerbaijan can and should join the organization."

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization was established in 2001 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Later, India, Pakistan, Belarus, and Iran also joined the SCO.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit will be held in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1. Previously, the spokesperson for the Armenian Prime Minister, Nazar Bagdasarian, confirmed that the Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan will attend the summit.
