South Korean media: Harmony OS ranks second in the Chinese market, surpassing Apple's iOS for six consecutive quarters!

On October 21, South Korean media "Today Digital" published an article stating that Huawei's self-developed operating system, Harmony OS, remains in the second position in China's smartphone operating system market, surpassing Apple's iOS for six consecutive quarters.

Data from market research company Counterpoint Research shows that Harmony OS had a market share of 17% in the second quarter, exceeding iOS (16%), while Android (66%) still holds the leading position in the market.

The Huawei Nova series smartphones and the foldable phone Pura X are believed to have contributed to the growth of the Harmony OS. However, globally, the Harmony OS only accounts for 4% of the market share, far behind Android (79%) and iOS (17%).

Harmony OS was developed as an alternative to the Android system after the U.S. sanctions in 2019. With the release of Harmony OS Next last year, it accelerated the development of its own ecosystem. Recently, Huawei invested 1 billion yuan through the Tian Gong Plan to expand support for developers of the Harmony OS and strengthen its independent ecosystem.

Huawei recently announced the roadmap for its Ascend AI processor, which is a significant move indicating increasing confidence in competing with U.S. suppliers such as NVIDIA.
