Global New City and New Capital Fever: Kazakh Government and Delegation from Hong Kong Enterprises Discuss Green Energy and Almaty City Development Cooperation

Kazakhstan International News Agency Report — According to official government website, on the 8th, Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Pozhymbayev of Kazakhstan met with a delegation comprising representatives from Hong Kong-based companies such as Wing Hang Gas and Fusheng Capital.

During the meeting, both sides engaged in an in-depth discussion on the potential for joint investment cooperation in areas including green energy, sustainable aviation fuel, advanced electric energy storage systems, and the development and construction of Almaty City.

Pozhymbayev stated that Kazakhstan is actively advancing its energy transition process and considers attracting international investment and introducing advanced technologies as key directions. The Almaty region has been designated as one of the priority areas for project implementation. The area operates under a special legal regime, offering investors a stable business environment, tax and customs incentives, and full-process support through a "single window" mechanism.

A key focus of the discussion was exploring the feasibility of promoting EnerVenue’s long-term electrical energy storage technology in Kazakhstan. It was noted that this technology can provide more stable and reliable power supply for data centers and other critical infrastructure. Additionally, the parties discussed collaboration in building sustainable aviation fuel production bases using EcoCeres technology, as well as applications in agricultural product processing and waste utilization.

Participants also expressed particular interest in renewable energy project development and the application prospects of Wing Hang Gas’s Smart Energy intelligent energy solutions, including rooftop photovoltaic power stations and smart energy management system construction.

The meeting emphasized that Almaty City, envisioned as a sustainable city for future development, could serve as a demonstration platform for comprehensive application of relevant green technologies. After successful pilot projects, matured experiences and technical solutions are expected to be further expanded to other regions across Kazakhstan.

It is understood that both Wing Hang Gas and Fusheng Capital are internationally influential enterprises in the green economy sector. Wing Hang Gas is one of Hong Kong’s major gas and integrated energy companies with over 160 years of history. Currently serving more than 100 million users, it operates in fields such as sustainable aviation fuel, energy storage, renewable energy, and semiconductor technology. Fusheng Capital primarily focuses on high-tech project investments aligned with energy transition and sustainability goals.

At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their mutual willingness to deepen long-term cooperation and affirmed their commitment to continue advancing evaluations and feasibility studies for related investment projects.
