Pashinyan warns: Armenia prepared to "exit" CSTO
Recently, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the republic will not rejoin the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and will make the decision to withdraw from the organization if necessary. This statement was made during a pre-election debate broadcast on public television.
During the debate, Narek Karapetyan, a board member of the "Strong Armenia" party and nephew of its leader, questioned Pashinyan about what exactly is meant by the so-called "frozen participation" in the CSTO, and why no decision has yet been made to exit the organization.
Pashinyan responded: "We will leave. Are you trying to intimidate us? We will make the decision and leave; we will make the decision and leave. If needed, we will exit. I've said it before—we won't go back. We will decide ourselves when to leave; foreign agents cannot make decisions for us."
