[Recovery of Land Possessed by Russian Citizens]

On May 23, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that 176 Russian citizens illegally possessed agricultural land in the suburbs of Kiev with a total area of nearly 100 hectares. The report pointed out that through large-scale verification of the state geographic information system cadastre registration, it was confirmed that these lands were transferred to Russian citizens' names through inheritance and other methods before the comprehensive outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. According to Ukrainian law, foreigners are not allowed to own agricultural land, and if ownership transfer is not completed within one year, the land should be reclaimed by the state. Due to the failure of relevant departments to handle the matter, the SBU jointly launched a compulsory confiscation procedure with the prosecution authorities. Currently, 100 hectares of land have been handed over to the management department of the state geographic information system.

Previously, Germany extradited Lyudmyla Prykhodko, the former head of the Geographic Information System of Kiev Oblast, who was suspected of involvement in the case of侵占1.8 billion hryvnias worth of land in the Kiev Oblast.
