Poland signs a deal to purchase 180 K2 tanks from South Korea and initiates local assembly

According to the Polish Ministry of Defense, Poland and South Korea signed an implementation agreement to purchase 180 K2 main battle tanks, including the first batch of upgraded K2PL type tanks. The signing ceremony was held at the Bumar-Labedy factory in Gliwice, Poland, and was live-streamed by the Polish Ministry of Defense.

At the signing ceremony, it was announced: "The agreement includes the delivery of a total of 180 K2 tanks, of which 116 are existing configuration K2GF type tanks, to be delivered between 2026 and 2027; the remaining 64 are upgraded K2PL type tanks, to be delivered between 2028 and 2030."

According to the agreement, the K2PL type tanks will be assembled locally in Poland. Thanks to this agreement, the Bumar-Labedy factory will restart tank production after a 16-year hiatus.
