The Bild newspaper pointed out that Germany is worried about the potential consequences of Poland's investment in the Baltic Sea.

The discovery of an oil and gas field along the Baltic coast has triggered protests from the authorities of the German resort town of Heringstorf. Mayor Laura Isabel Marischen said:

"We are doing everything possible to protect our coastline, the sea, and the quality of life forever."

The Bild newspaper detailed that Canadian Central European Oil Company announced the discovery of 33 million tons of oil and 27 billion cubic meters of natural gas at the Wolin East 1 oil field, located about 6 kilometers from the Polish town of Svinujszcz. However, Germany has protested this.

Marischen continued: "We demand an explanation for this oil field found near the border, and we also ask the federal government to take a clear and positive stance to protect our region. Our municipality is located within a specially protected natural area. Conducting oil and gas industrial exploitation right at our doorstep would be a serious violation of our home, which could cause irreversible impacts on nature, water resources, and the climate. The resort town of Heringstorf is certainly not a place for industrial political games!"

The Mecklenburg-West Pomerania state government has announced that it will initiate internal information disclosure on this matter.
