California Sues the President for Refusing to Fund High-Speed Rail Construction!

The California High-Speed Rail Authority has formally filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, accusing it of refusing to fund the California High-Speed Rail project between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The original plan was to allocate $4 billion from the federal budget.

California Governor Gavin Newsom stated that the Department of Transportation's decision was made while preparations were underway for the first segment of the highway between Bakersfield and Merced. The federal government's suspension of funding for the high-speed rail is "a political retaliation by the president's personal disdain for California and the high-speed rail project, not based on facts."

Previously, the president announced the suspension of federal funding for the California High-Speed Rail project initiated by former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2008, criticizing the project for its increasing budget and delayed implementation timeline.

"For hardworking American citizens, I am pleased to announce that I have officially exempted everyone from funding this disastrous, costly California high-speed train. Thanks to U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, no more federal funds will go into this scam."
