China-Kazakhstan Connectivity: Kazakhstan's Third Railway to China - The Bakhty-Ayaguz Railway Built by China

Kazakh International News Agency, recently, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Janibek Teygenov, and the Deputy Governor of Abay Region, Serik Tolymbetev, jointly held a special on-site meeting to discuss the relevant matters regarding the construction of the Bakhty-Ayaguz railway project.

According to the Ministry of Transport, representatives from the Kazakh National Railway Company, the Samruk-Kazyna State Fund, the general contractor China Harbour Engineering Co., Ltd., and the design units attended the meeting.

The meeting focused on the progress of the project implementation and had in-depth exchanges on the coordination and cooperation issues among the participating parties during the construction process.

It is understood that the Bakhty-Ayaguz railway project has significant strategic importance for improving transportation infrastructure, building cross-border railway corridors, and enhancing the capacity of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor. The railway is 303 kilometers long. According to the project plan, 11 stations, 68 bridges, and 355 culverts will be built along the route.

According to the plan, the project is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2027. So far, the engineering survey work has been fully completed, and four worker camps have been built and put into use on the sections of Aiyi, Shaopan, Urazar, and Bakhty.

Teygenov emphasized at the meeting that the project must be completed on schedule and required all participating parties to maintain an efficient and coordinated working mechanism. The Ministry of Transport will work with the Kazakh Railway Company, the contractor, and local administrative agencies to continuously carry out regular tracking and supervision of the project construction progress.
