US media attention: China's crewed lunar lander undergoes critical testing!

Ensuring that astronauts can land on the lunar surface very comfortably and smoothly.

On August 8, US media "Space News" quoted Chinese CCTV reports.

Lanyue can send two astronauts to the lunar surface, and is also equipped with equipment for transporting a lunar rover and scientific payloads.

The US media pointed out that the lander is equipped with multiple engines arranged in a redundant configuration to serve as backups for each other. If any engine fails, the remaining engines can safely return the astronauts to lunar orbit, allowing them to return to Earth.

According to the Chinese CCTV report, during the test, Lanyue's engines were ignited, simulating the process of the probe landing on the moon and then taking off.

This test application evaluated the performance of the lunar module under different scenarios during the landing and takeoff processes.

"This test verified the landing and takeoff system of the lander, the control plan, the lunar surface contact shutdown procedure, and the compatibility of interfaces between subsystems, including guidance, navigation control (GNC) and propulsion systems," said CCTV.

The US media said that the lander carries many tasks, bringing significant design challenges. Every pound of weight must serve multiple functions, and China has adopted all possible methods to reduce weight to achieve the most complex and advanced design purpose with the least launch weight.

The US media explained that the name "Lanyue" means "embrace the moon," which is a lunar lander and ascent ship developed for China's first crewed lunar mission, planned to occur before 2030.

In contrast, the US lunar program is facing funding cuts, and the first goal of the US is worrying.
