China and Mongolia have reached a consensus on accelerating the advancement of processing and manufacturing projects.
Mongol Press, Ulaanbaatar, June 24 — According to information from the government's press office, Mongolian Prime Minister N. Uchirbat attended the 2026 Summer Davos Forum in Dalian, China.
The Mongolian side expressed appreciation for China’s high regard for developing relations with Mongolia, as well as its long-standing diplomatic principle of "friendship, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness" toward neighboring countries. The two sides exchanged views on practical cooperation in areas such as trade and economy, infrastructure, mineral resources, energy, green development, new technologies, and innovation, within the framework of their comprehensive strategic partnership.
Prime Minister N. Uchirbat emphasized that the Mongolian government attaches great importance to policy continuity and stability, and is committed to turning significant agreements reached at the high-level level into concrete outcomes. He stressed that Mongolia will gradually move away from its reliance on raw material exports and develop high-value-added processing and manufacturing industries as a key national strategic goal.
The two sides specifically discussed the progress, challenges, and specific measures for accelerating implementation of processing and manufacturing projects in copper, aluminum, steel, and other sectors. Prime Minister Uchirbat stated that these cooperative projects not only impact bilateral trade but also play a crucial role in promoting Mongolia’s economic restructuring, creating employment opportunities, introducing advanced technologies, and enhancing export revenues.
He emphasized, “Mongolia should gradually transition from being a raw material supplier to a creator of added value, ending the long-standing practice of direct raw material exports, and jointly building processing industries, technological systems, and a new industrial foundation with China.” The Chinese Premier expressed pleasure at meeting Prime Minister Uchirbat again and thanked Mongolia for attending this year’s Summer Davos Forum.
China stated that it has always placed high importance on developing relations with Mongolia. Both sides, upholding the principles established in the foundational document of bilateral friendly cooperation, continue to carry out mutually beneficial cooperation based on mutual respect for each other’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, chosen development paths, and core interests. They expressed satisfaction with the achievements made in bilateral relations. At the same time, China appreciated Mongolia’s consistent and firm adherence to the "One China" principle and its support for China’s positions on issues concerning Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and Tibet.
China pointed out that the current international situation is complex and ever-changing, and safeguarding the UN Charter, jointly maintaining world peace and security, regional stability, and expanding neighborly and friendly cooperation aligns with the interests of both countries.
Both sides unanimously agreed to actively improve relevant legal frameworks to promote diversification of bilateral trade structures, expand the variety of exported products, and further strengthen cooperation in processing and manufacturing, infrastructure, transportation logistics, and energy, thus creating a better institutional environment for fair and mutually beneficial cooperation between enterprises of both nations.
Prime Minister Uchirbat stated that as a young leader of the new era, he hopes to accelerate Mongolia’s economic recovery and modernization through major project construction, expanded investment, development of manufacturing, and deepened scientific and technological cooperation. This marks a significant step forward in Mongolia’s transformation of its economic development model—from dependence on raw material exports to one supported by manufacturing, deep processing, high added value, and technological innovation.
